Congratulations to Samsung Electronics in ranking first in the Top 100 Global Innovators 2024 report that was released today by ‘Clarivate’, who for 13 years has identified the organizations leading the world in technology research and innovation in this annual report.
· Japan maintains its position as the biggest contributor of Top 100 entities, with 38 innovators.
· Mainland China and South Korea continue to expand their representation in the list.
Not unsurprisingly, there has been growth and further representation in this year’s Top 100 Global Innovators from fields of technology including ‘Semiconductors’, ‘Software, media and fintech’ and ‘industrial systems’. ‘Electronics and computing equipment’ continue to be the largest industry category.
In something new, in this years’ report, ‘Clarivate’ has ranked these top 100 organizations for the first time.
· 18 organizations retain Top 100 Global status for 13 years.
· Three organizations re-enter the Top 100 list.
· 2 organizations are awarded Top 100 status for the first time.
The list is compiled through a careful analysis of patent data, specifically leveraging the Derwent World Patents Index™ (DWPI™), which acts as a repository of human invention and patented problem solving.
These 61 million inventions, 1.1 million innovators and organizations, 3,500 qualifying companies and institutions are carefully distilled down into 100 ranks. the Top 100 Global Innovators are above 99.99% of all other innovators globally. They exemplify excellence in innovation.
Securing and retaining a Top 100 Global Innovators spot requires continued innovation beyond the benchmark set by earlier recipients and beyond the baseline of inventive activity. Innovators can quantify the impact of investing in research and innovation.
