Richard has worked in patent law and practice since 1988, with experience spanning both private practice and in-house roles. Before joining IP Solved, he served as a patent examiner and later as a patents adviser in a major telecommunications company, gaining deep insight into the practical and regulatory aspects of intellectual property management. Since 1996, Richard has practised as a patent attorney, advising clients on patentability, drafting and prosecuting Australian, New Zealand and foreign patent and design applications, and guiding businesses through the full protection process.

Richard’s technical expertise covers a wide range of technologies, including Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications, and Information Technology—particularly in business methods and software-related inventions. His combination of technical depth and practical industry experience allows him to provide precise, commercially focused IP advice across diverse innovation sectors.
